Inside-Out is a weekly experience for youth (ages 10-13) to cultivate their “inner garden” and gain hands-on garden skills at 15th Street Farm. This program is designed to connect young people with Nature and a deeper understanding of the natural cycles we all depend on—but are often isolated from—amidst a world of technology and consumerism.
We’ll explore gentle mindfulness and emotional regulation practices, get our hands in the soil, and learn about the fascinating living systems involved in growing food. Oftentimes, the garden is a metaphor for how we are growing as individuals. Our programs are designed to foster the discovery of the positive and grounding effects of Nature. We believe children grow healthier and more resilient when connected with Nature.
Children are encouraged to join for the month (1 day per week), as each skill set will support their development in new ways. Children attending for the month will take home a seedling to care for throughout the lunar cycle. Optional 1:1 support is available as well.
